How to Choose a Business Workflow for AI Automation
Learn which repeatable processes are suitable for AI automation and where human review should remain.
Start with repetition, not novelty
The best first automation is usually a repeated process with known inputs and a clear outcome. Moving form data, routing an inquiry or preparing a standard summary is easier to validate than an open-ended strategic decision.
Map exceptions before building
A workflow that succeeds only in the happy path is not production-ready. List missing data, duplicate submissions, unavailable integrations and cases that require a person before deciding which steps can run automatically.
Keep accountability visible
AI can classify, summarise or draft, but a person should remain accountable for decisions involving money, legal consequences, sensitive data or important customer commitments.
Measure saved effort and failure rate
Useful automation should reduce manual work without creating hidden correction work. Track how often it completes correctly, how often it escalates and whether the team can understand what happened.
